A single off the last ball was enough to secure victory for De La Salle in an excellent close match against Old Firps. After constant rain the preceding week, it was remarkable that the game even took place, but the pitch was heavy and slow, making fluent batting difficult. Firps struggled from the start and only a patient 35 from stand-in captain Mark Banister allowed Old Firps to post a modest total of 89. Tight bowling however from Firps always made the target difficult, but the sporting stance of the captain in not utilising all his main bowlers meant that, despite some sound fielding and catching, De La Salle were allowed to reach their target of 90 off the last ball of the innings.
