A poor start to the season on many levels. No nets for the third(?) season in a row, too few days notice for the match and hence only 8 men arriving on the day.
With a couple of Treeton youngsters recruited, Old Firps won the toss and elected to field - to at least ensure that the match went beyond half-past five. A couple of early wickets from Dave Harrison and excellent away-swing from Dean Woodcock kept things tight early on, but some brutal cow-corner hitting from one Treeton batsman earned him a quick-fire century and took the game well out of Firps' reach.
Batting in reply, Treeton's opening bowlers were in a different class to ourselves and only 24 runs came from the first 12 overs. It was a pretty hapless batting display all-round, with only three batsmen getting in double figures. A little more club organisation really wouldn't have gone amiss before this game.
